My interest in spirituality started when I was talking to someone about one of my childhood experience. The person told me that he knows of some other people that experienced the same thing. Even though what I experienced that time wasn’t related to out of body experience, the person told me that I could find out about what I saw by travelling out of body, the process commonly known as astral projection. I will never forget my reaction when I heard that something like this is possible. I was shocked, but in a very joyful way. It was like someone gave me the key for something that I longed for for a long time, but without really knowing thus far that I had the longing for that key.
I asked him many things about the astral, I wanted to know as much as possible. He told me that it is a dimension where one can get answers that are unavailable in this physical world. Soon afterwards he gave me a thin book about the subject, containing mostly brief history of astral projection and some techniques on how to achieve it. I was very excited about it, and decided to give it a go. However, in the same time I started to get pulled more and more into pleasures of mundane life. I was around 16 at the time and was keen to do popular things like going to parties and bars. My interest in mundane activities started to intensify from that point onwards so I put astral projection to a side.
When I was 17 I heard about Carlos Castaneda and his books. He was anthropologist that went to Mexico to study about an effects of some psychotropic plants. However, his initial study intention was replaced when he met a shaman that started teaching him about deeper and multidimensional side of life. I enjoyed his books even though I didn’t really understand them very much, but nevertheless they were making me aware of spiritual side of life, amidst the sea of mundane pleasures in which I was entrapped at the time.
When I was 18 I discovered a new book called Adventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman. I was very happy when I borrowed it in a local library. I remember it was Friday, and usually I was very addicted to going out on Weekends, but as I started reading this book I didn’t cared much about going out that night. I ended up reading entire book in one go. The book was a compilation of the experiences of the writer and through it I became aware of many new potentials of travelling out of body. However, I was still very much addicted to socialization, social gatherings and parties, and many things that goes with it. I graduated high school at that age, and soon afterwards I moved to a new city to continue my studies, which in my eyes meant new opportunities for social gatherings, beyond restrictions of my parents.
About one year after that, a friend visited me where I lived during my studies, and conversation moved in a spiritual direction. We talked about spiritual things and astral projection. We decided that together we will investigate about astral projection and how to astral project. It was after that talk that my yearning for unknown got ignited again. I started gathering information about OBE’s (out of body experiences). Among many things I came across at that time, I found Robert Bruce works to be practical so I started applying some of his techniques. I remember one of such event, it was summer afternoon. I decided I will do “the rope technique”. This technique consist of imaging climbing an imaginary rope with imaginary hands. Some 15 minutes after I started having vibrational sensations in my body. Fear took over so I stopped the practice. I was aware of those sensations and that they are a natural part of the process of astral projection, but I was surprised that this started to happen so fast.
Around that time I found a website called Mysticweb. The website offered free courses on astral projection to which I gladly enrolled. It also had a nice chatroom which I often visited. I enjoyed the course and the chat very much, and people there were nice. The course was very practical and simple, explaing in a step by step way how to astral project and use time out of body wisely. I found out that this website is also offering two other courses which deal with self-discovery and spiritual journey. The author of all the courses was spiritual teacher called Belzebuub.
I enrolled to self-discovery course but I didn’t really practiced the techniques. I had an obstacle that was preventing me from starting a journey of self-discovery. I was also still addicted to social gatherings. About a year after that I managed to overcome the obstacle that was preventing me from delving into self-discovery. Immediately I stopped with all serious addictions that I had and I enrolled to the third course that Mysticweb (which then changed name to Gnosticweb) was offering. It was the course called Esoteric Wisdom and it was a practical course on starting ones own spiritual journey. From that point onward started a new chapter in my life.
