Is Fearing and Avoiding Astral Realms Necessary?

Transformative Effects of Out of Body Experiences

It is not unknown that those who have had out of body experiences (OBE), regardless of how they occurred, have had an experience that changed them in some way. It is also not uncommon that these types of experiences can change the course of people’s lives. One of a famous case of such occurrence was Robert Monroe, one of the pioneers in the research on out of body experiences. He was a regular citizen, not really standing out from the rest, until he started experiencing spontaneous OBEs in his 50’s. This changed the course of his life, and he had these experiences frequently until the end of his life. Using Meditation as Aid for Clairvoyance and Astral Projection

Exercise of meditation is not a prerequisite for clairvoyance and astral projection, but can help achieving those abilities. When I was starting out with astral projection, I heard many talk about meditation as a help to astral travel and how it is necessary to practice meditation first for some time. I can understand why – when we work on silencing the mind, and if we go deeper with meditation and start to observe our thoughts and emotions (more on this technique in another post), we will see how this will carry on to other exercises that require concentration, such as astral projection. Then when the thoughts will come and go, it will be easier to stay detached from them and focus on a technique that leads to the precise point of the conscious astral split (which is when the body falls asleep and the mind stays awake). Is Spiritual Work a Criteria for Astral Travel?

The question of prerequisites for astral travel often arises in the minds of the people interested to learn this precious skill. “What is necessary? Can someone like me learn it? How long does it take?” etc. etc. These are just some of the many questions, but the criteria for it is often time neglected. Everybody is convinced that they can learn it if they apply sufficient effort. And this is true to an extent – it is definitely possible to experience the sensations of astral projection, or even full conscious split of the astral body from the physical, and perhaps even seeing what is out there in the lower astral plane. This is possible for more or less everyone who develops the ability of concentration and relaxation up to a certain point. However, to go beyond these initial stages, there is criteria that needs to be met.

When I started with serious training to learn how to astral travel I was in my early 20’s, and it always amazed me the amount of people who were in the age group 13-20 years of age who also wanted to learn it, yet the immature goals that they had was obviously keeping them away from reaching the astral plane, and yet they complained over and over why it is not happening to them; some of the most popular of such goals being astral sex, spying on others, fighting etc. Continue reading

Astral projection or Lucid dreaming: Which One to Choose

I decided to write this post as a sort of a clarification, and to expand a little bit upon the meaning of these two abilities. I noticed that many people think about lucid dreaming as something that is happening exclusively in the mind, and believe that through it they can satisfy their unfulfilled desires, have a lot of fun, enhance their personality, as well as work on various obstacles that they have in daily life. Such usage is what many ‘experts’ in this field promote. The former boast with the titles of ‘scientist’ and use it in authoritative way to explain what lucid dreams are all about. Such people ignore, ridicule, or demean the ability of astral projection, which is defined as the projection of consciousness (inside the astral body) out of the physical vehicle. For these people, there is nothing in us that can be projected out in that way, so they label it as a silly occult mumbo-jumbo. Or, there are some others in this field who think of it as real, but also as something that is happening solely within ones own mind. Continue reading

Astral Travel Training: Tips that Increase Chances for OBE (Part 3/3)

Practices are not only about quantity. Even more important is quality. Easier said than done, but it’s a golden rule and very worthwhile to grasp it well. Someone once said that “definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different resuts”, and that if the door you try to open is not opening by pushing, then you need to pull it. This indicate the need to experiment in order to get to results.

Most people that get stuck somewhere in the process of learning astral projection, is because they are applying the same approach, without getting any result. This indicates that practices are done in a mechanical way. Therefore, before starting the practice, intent to do it with quality, and things might very well start changing for the better. Remember: astral projection is achieved when the mind is awake at the moment when the physical body falls asleep. It is that simple, and a quality practice will move you in that direction.
