Since early on I felt that winter is a great time to go deeper with practices, and to apply more efforts into making them work. Traditionally in civilization, winter time was used to rest and to prepare for the new season. This was especially so in agriculture line of work, but also in other areas that people worked in. People were preparing for winter during autumn, and then during winter they did very little work and spent most of their time resting. Everything slowed down in winter – people, animals, and nature itself. In such way, nature shows us that, as winter is a time when everything stays still and is at the point of ‘death’, that we too should slow down. Continue reading
“A higher Level of Being is directly above us from moment to moment. It is not in any remote horizontal future but here and now within our own selves, on the Vertical.”
~ Samael Aun Weor
One of the most important teachings passed down by Samael Aun Weor, is that which speaks about the two lines of life – the horizontal line and the vertical line. There is a short chapter dedicated to it in the book Revolutionary Psychology, and he also refers to it in other places as well. It is well known in esoteric schools that life, from the point of view of the spiritual work, can be narrowed down to everyday mundane life (which represents the horizontal line) and the spiritual life (the one that is lived inwardly by applying the efforts to awaken). This latter line of life is the vertical line. Continue reading

The universal path to awakening is mentioned in many esoteric texts throughout the history. To get the full understanding of it, you should first read my previous article The Wheel of Samsara, and the purpose of human life.
Many secret schools existed in the past that were teaching this very path, some of them are the Hermetic Order, the Rosicrucian, the Freemasons etc. It can also be found in legends, myths and arts of the past – it is depicted in the story of Odyssey, Jason and the Argonauts, the quest of knights for the Holy Grail, in the opera the Magic Flute by Mozart, and many others.
The teachings of many ancient schools have sadly degenerated and/or gotten lost, so for example we can see that Freemasons today are something very different than original spiritual teachings leading toward the light. The path was the same in ancient Egypt, among Mayas, Incas, ancient Hindus, Nordic, Druids, and many other spiritual cultures that existed. They were aware of the universal techniques and process to full awakening. Continue reading
